Good case
I'm looking for a new case so I can get pretty low temperatures for my new build (which hasn't been built yet)
It will probably be something like an Athlon XP 1900 and 300Watt power supply (just to give you an idea of heat) So I need a relatively cheap case (but post any recommendations, I'll decide whether it's a good price or not) with GOOD airflow and space for quite a few fans (I have slept through my roof caving in before so I can sleep with the noise) Also I would need a good heatsink (I'll probably be buying from www.overclock.co.uk so it would be nice if it was on there) Thanks all, Jim

From that site, the Chieftec Black Winner WX-01BD looks like a good Antec clone case, and the GlobalWIN CAKII38 is a good cooler.

Another MUST is that the heatsink and fan actually FITS in the damn case!
I have a case here and the Power Supply is just above the CPU leaving about 4 inches which means no room for any decent coolers Jim |

The Chieftec case is bigger so that the PSU is at the top above the motherboard and does not get in the way of the heatsink.

Hmmm, noticed it's in Black. This isn't really a good point for me as I have white drives which will look unsightly

The Chieftec Dragon Midi-Tower DX-01WD looks to be the same only white. Here's what it looks like inside.

try one of these:
http://www.sofistic.com/cgibin/webc....05102127406.9b good looking, cheap ($29), and has a fan with a funnel from the cpu screwless drive mounts, heavy steel, easy to install hd basket, no standoffs needed, no tool take apart front bezel snaps off, sides can be screwed in place but lock in without screws... room for front fan, comes with rear fan and funnel... good builders case (in my humble opinion) Last edited by Dan; 07-07-2002 at 09:16 PM. |

I have the chieftec, and while it doesn't have all of the "perks" the antec does, it is an excellent case. I would buy a chieftec over an antec, because you don't lose much. If you are buying it with a psu, then the story would be different. The Antec PSU wins this hands down. I say this because I had one from chieftec go bad. It wasn't a cheap looking psu, but it couldn't keep a real steady voltage going. It was an "Enhance" psu.

Whatever you get , be sure not to order colorcases.com. Shipping was a nightmare with them. Grant it the case was on back order, but it was supposed to be delivered on june 1st. I didn't get to me til the 4rd week in june. I had to tell them that I would cancel my order if it wasn't in soon. That got them to send it right away. Also they didn't bother to tell me that date the cases were supposed to get in was push back. I had to continuely bug them about the status of my order. Which they didn't always give me a straight answer. Otherwise the case seems fine, but I'm never ordering from them again.
