Smile Question about Memory Type

Hello, can any one help me with this question. I have some question about current memory type. I brought a motherbroad it say that it support DDR memory but i don't know what type shoud i buy there are many kind there ar DDR 266, DDR 300, and mand different name, which type should i buy or i can buy any type of DDR memory regarless of the number and what is the difference is between, what happen if i bought the wrong type of memory for my motherboards what will happen does the motherboard will burn. Please help

Hi wilbasket23,

Check Crucial.com, select your motherboard model and it will tell you exactly what kind of memory you need. Mostly like DDR266 (aka. PC2100). If you use the wrong kind nothing will happen, the motherboard either won't boot or the memory will "underclock" and run at slower speeds.
