Please describe the sound. What can it be compared to? When does this sound happen? Is it constant, or only at different intervals?

It sounds like a defective speker.... return for replacement. sometimes the wires are not in the right place. My old sound system sounded like it was under water (bubbles and everything) it was just the wires that were crossed somewhere inside.
Did you try out other speakers on your comp yet? (note: when testing out a different set of speakers do NOT use any part of the creative set, not even the same jacks) Hope I helped |

Do the speakers use a standard rca type cable or 1/4" connector? Check the connections, and make sure they are all solid. Also, try using a different cable in the one that is making the noise, and see if that eliminates the noise at that location. It sounds more like the cable is loose or bad, or the internal speaker jack is bad, rather than a problem with your computer or windows.

When you switched the cable, did the sound move to the other speakers? IF that's the case, it just sounds like a bad cable. Take it down to your local radio shack or best buy, and get one that matches it. Otherwise, try to get a replacement from the place you purchased the speakers from.

Yes it sounds like something wrong inside the speakers. Because when I opened up my old speakers and played with wires same noises came when I touched different wire ends.

Recheck all of your connections. You could have loosened something in the processes of swapping cables. It doesn't seem as if it is a software issue here. I would still recommend that your try and get new cables for them at a local electronics store. IF you bring the cables in, they should be able to help you identify them.
A 1/4" connector is what comes standard on walkman headphones. Attached is a picture of an RCA connector. |

Make double sure that you are plugged into the correct jacks on the sound card. If still noisey, look first to the obvious, on one of my machines I have to keep the mic muted or I get a humming in the speakers.
