Very strange question...

Recently, I acquired an old imac. The person who owned it didn't need it anymore, and they lost alot of the parts for it (power plug, keyboard, mouse, etc. Don't ask). Well, having no use for it, I tore it apart inspecting every inch of it. The only thing I found was a fan. It is a 92mm Delta Enterprise's AFB9292254 . The only thing is, it is a 2 pin connector. I need a 3 pin adapter. Do any of you have suggestions for a use, or any other possible parts I could use from the imac? Thanks...

What kind of Mac was it? Even some of the old Macs used SCSI harddrives, but it's probably using 72pin memory. Those old Mac's also didnt have the PCI bus yet.
If it's a Power Mac (was) maybe should of left it together, but if it was one of those 68k Macs they are only a little bit better then a PC with a 486 in it. Although my wife still uses her 68k Mac the CPU that's in it is only 25Mhz but she surfs the net pretty good, she will not touch a PC.

Its an imac, about 3-4 years old. It has a 233mhz G3 processor, a 4 gig HD (not sure is it scsi, I'll look into that) I know the memory is useless, and it has a modified voodoo2 that it uses. It also has a CD drive of somesort. I have no clue if the cd or HD are useable.

Hi Skelett,

I understand the iMac's used the IDE drive interface, you might be able to use the hard drive after you zero it out. Not sure about the CD-ROM drive though...isn't it built into the iMac and have no face plate?

Well Cricket, you were right about the HD being IDE, which is cool. I'll try to format it here in a few. But, about the CD... still not sure. It is removable and had a face plate. Still don't know how I could make it work on a pc though.

What are you going to do with the 'useless' CPU, memory, video card, ect...?
As far as the harddrive goes, you shouldnt have any problem at all getting it to work on Windows, the other way around (windows to mac) that can be a problem, (at least with SCSI drives) but from Mac to windows should be no sweat. If your not going to be using the other computer parts (the ones that will only work on a Mac) I would be interested in them if you dont all ready have plans for them. Let me know. If you want you can also email me at:

Just put something like 'Mac Stuff' on the subject line so that I dont filter it out with all the spam I get.

Update!

Ok, heres an update...

I formatted the HD and installed it on my system. Its actually a pretty nice E-IDE hd, though it is only 4g. What I plan on doing is installing my OS on that drive, along with anything else that can be re-installed (games, etc) and use my other HD for data storage. I think it will work out pretty nicely.

As for the other pieces, they are all mac only (with the exception of the fan, still not sure about that one... anyone?) I e-mailed you sshal, so get in touch with me. I suppose thats about it. Thanks, as always, guys.

Imacs use standard SDRAM and standard IDE drives.
