What speed ram?

I'm going to build a computer, and what kind of ram support should i look 4 on the mobo?

Also, is 512 enough ram for gaming, or should i go for more?

Hi Matt,

Current DDR speeds are DDR266 (PC2100) and DDR333 (PC2700). Most new boards support DDR333, but it's more expensive than DDR266 and the performance increase isn't that much, so I would recommend DDR266 (which can be used on a DDR333 board). And 512MB is plenty for gaming, I use 256MB and everything runs smooth. Hope that helps.

I would recommend PC2100 DDR ram for your build. Most newer motherboards support PC2700 but it costs more and the performance increase is hardly noticable.

512megs is plenty for your build. 256 is enough but having that extra RAM never hurts.

512 should be plenty. I just bought a 512MB PC2700, for $135 + free shipping from Buyaib.com I benchmarked my memory and it exceeds rdram pc800 in 3 of 4 test, so I'd say it's better than pc2100....
