Pc Dvd Supporting Dvd-audio
HI,
I read a lot of Home Theater and HI-Fi audio and video magazines and the DVD-Audio format is becoming much more popular. I was wondering if any PC DVD drive supports DVD-Audio. I don't need a new drive; I am just curious if one is manufactured. |

DVD-Audio requires 5.1 (or 6.1) discreet audio outputs -- any DVD drive would thereby support DVD-Audio -- it would be your sound card and it's ability to supply 5.1 or 6.1 channels of discreet audio to a reciever or amplifier. And we're talking about discreet outputs -- not digital outputs. There are a few high-end audio cards that would fit this bill, but they are really intended for production use and are not really consumer level cards.

Hey,
Thanks, I knew that most standalone DVD players weren't capable of reading DVD audio and figures computer drives weren't too. But, now I understand. I am not really intersted in playing DVD-Audio and am not going to upgrade to some highend equipment when there are only a few music selections out there. |
