Question BIOS says PSU fan speed is to low, problem???

Hi

I got my new system up and running. From the first moment on my BIOS says that my fan speed of my power supply is to low (red numbers) it's around, I believe, 1500 RPM.
For now I ignored it, cause I haven't let the sytem run for a long time yet, but could this indicate a problem????? Maybe it indicates a problem, however I saw that the fans in the PSU where spinning at a not to slow speed. Especially the fan on the back of the PSU was spinning at a good speed. I felt a lot of the warm air coming out at a good speed according to my judgemant.

I have an Enermax PSU (Enermax EG365P-VD) in combination with an ASUS P4S533 mobo. This PSU hasn't got a temperature monitor and performance is not controlable.

I would definately keep an eye on it, but it's possible that the sensor is bad. Have you tried to get a reading from a third party program? I'm not sure, but SiSoftware Sandra might be able to give you that information.

That's low. Should be about 4000rpm. More importantly, what is your CPU TEMP in BIOS? Could be a bad reading, but post back your temps. They should be 35-50'C

The RPM sensor might be taking the fan speed of the 92mm fan on the bottom of the Enermax...that fan spins pretty slowly and I think what you're seeing (1500 RPM) is probably correct and nothing to worry about. The fan spins slowly so that it doesn't make a lot of noise, that's why Enermax PSU's are so quiet.

CPU Temps are okay, around 40 'C. ASUS probe says the same. I haven't had any problems or things that really worried me, like stuttering graphics or something (otherwise it would be a little to hot I guess).

Here is the data:

-CPU fan speed: 2636 RPM
-CPU temp: 43'C (running Flight Simulator 2000 full detail)
-PSU fan speed: 1875 RPM
-PSU temp: not available
-Case fan speed: 1900 RPM (I believe it's a 92 mm fan)

And wow that Enermax is indeed quiet, just like the Maxtor HDD.

So the speeds and temp are within limits. I checked my CPU temp again after playing GTA 3 and it was 46 'C. This is still okay isn't it? At what temp it's becoming a little dangerous??

With a P4, it will slow itself down when it gets warm.

46C after playing an intense game is still a very low CPU temp...nothing to be worried about.

If the CPU temp does start to get really dangerously high (like over 90C), the P4 will throttle itself back in speed automatically so it can cool off and not get damaged.

If you aren't experiencing any system lockups or freezes, don't worry about it...just enjoy using your new computer.

Don't worry, be happy.
