Another BIOS cannot detect WD drive problem
This is a WD Caviar 205BA drive. It's from another PC, I reformatted it and tried to use it on a PC (Asus P3b-f Bios rev 1006). When the PC boot, it could not detect the drive. When I use WD's lifeline software to boot, it detected the drive during diagnosis, but when I ran EZ-install, it said there is no WD drive.
Also during the boot process, I got 'update bios incorrect '. If I changed the drive to slave and boot from another HD, the BIOS can see the disk with no problem. I also tried setting primary IDE to user defined instead of Auto, but it is still not working. I don't know what else to try, please help. Infojunkie |

It is jumpered as Master, I am using the 40 pin cable. I found some information from another forum that the drive needs more time to get detected. When I changed the bios to disable quick test, it detected the drive during cold boot; however, it still will not detect the drive during warm boot.

If it's a Western digital drive and it's a standalone device(no other drive on ribbon) the master is set to no jumper, simply remove the jumper or set it in a neutral position(horizontal)
