Compaq embedded network adapter problems
I was working on an old Compaq 4000 that includes an embedded network adapter. The electricity went out in a storm, and now the network adapter won't load up--it shows up in device manager with the yellow circle.
I removed it from device manager and restarted. It detected the embedded Compaq network controller and installed a bunch of files (couldn't find netflx3.inf, so I got it off the internet). I thought it would work after that, but it still showed up as not available in device manager. I removed it one more time from device manager. Now when I restart it detects a card (but doesn't identify it like it did before) but it can't find the drivers for it. What's my next step? (i do have some other cards laying around that I could use, but I'd prefer to get the original one working) |

Do you have the latest update drivers from compaq?
http://www.compaq.com/support/files/index.html Other than that I would say it's possible your NIC is toast |

drivers
I had just taken the computer in to an authorized dealer who reformatted and (supposedly, anyway) put all the latest drivers on. It worked just fine before the storm, so I'm assuming the drivers are probably not the problem.
