Battery Charging problem

I'm not too familiar with the hardware of a laptop but I'm hoping one of you are. I have a Dell Inspiron 3800 and it seems when the battery is in and the computer is plugged in the battery will not charged. There should be a slow blinking green light however, now I get a fast blinking orange light. Has this happened to anyone? Any suggestions how to fix it?

It sounds as though your battery has failed. In Dell notebooks the orange light indicates the battery is reporting it's internal circuit temps are too high. About the only fix is to replace the battery or get yours refurbished. If you only have one battery to fix it is usually cheaper to just buy a new one.
