Fans fans fans!
Are there any attachments to allow adding more fans to your computer? The motherboard I have now can support up to 3 fans, but the case I'm checking out has 7 fans (the Z-40 Storm). Thanks in advance (why!? cuz no one might answer!
)

there are two kinds of fans 3 pin and 4 pin. Your about done with 3 pins as you said.
Then you can buy 4 pin fans that hook directly to the molexes right out of the PSU. You can also make a Baybus,,,,,,,,kinda look like a box with speaker plugs on the back....where you can splice cables from the fans to make the changes really easy.

The 3 fans would be all I would want to draw power from the motherboard,you could power stave some boards if you try to go overboard with the fans that attach to the motherboard.
You can use the 4 pin that connect to the leads from the power supply,in that case the more air flow the better.IMHO |

I would go with the molex connections personally, as long as you got a big enough power supply. You can even get splitters for the molex and so add more.

I imagine any of those fans are probbably too big for the MB.
however, you can still get a signal. The fan has 3 contacts, +, -, and signal. If there is a 3-pin molex on the fan you can simply remove the + and - from the 3-pin molex, so you have a 3-pin molex with just a signal wire to connect to the MB. Then do some soldering to supply power. The worst thing though is with 7 fans your wireing will look like a rat's nest, unless your better than me at cable routing .Logan

Molex = those large, 4 hole power leads that hang on the ends of some of the wires coming out of your power supply.

Hi tails2250,
I usually put the fans on the power connectors from the power supply rather than connecting them to the motherboard (just to avoid power problems). Here's a pic of the inside of my DELL , the white plastic thing in the middle is the molex connectors from the fans and power supply. Cricket
