Laptop harddrive on desktop machine?
Hello there,
I have some data which I really need to retrieve of a broken laptop. As far as I know, the hard-drive and data thereon are fully intact, but as the laptop won’t switch on I can’t access it. I attempted to connect the drive to a slot in another laptop, but they did not appear to be compatible and I did not want risk damaging any pins. Is there any way to connect a laptop hard-drive to a free IDE channel on a desktop machine (perhaps through the use of an adaptor of some kind). Otherwise, what is the best course of action in my situation. Thanks in advance, James. |

Yup... Startech makes an adapter that will connect the IDE cable and a floppy power connector to your laptop drive.
