Integrated Sound Card

I am having trouble installing a Turtle Beach Montego II sound card into an HP pavillion. I took the sound card from a previous Dell system, which probably means it's OEM. The sound card works, since my speakers are directly pluged into the card, however I noticed that the sound quality is severely less optimal than when it was installed in the dell system. I have a feeling that the HP is using the integrated sound card, causing the lack of sound quality through the turtle beach card. Does anyone know what I can do? Thanks.

Welcome to the Mech!

Did you disable on-board sound in BIOS? Did you remove the old on-board sound driver? And did you install the new sound driver for your Turtle Beach card?

Thanks for the welcome!

I did not do anything to the BIOS, nor do I know how. There was no removable sound card, I believe it's integrated, that's why I have no idea how to disable it. I checked the device manager, but all I saw were drivers for Aureal sound. Now, I'm not sure whether that applies to my new or old sound card. As for the drivers, I checked everywhere but couldn't find any. I'm sorry, but my computer knowledge is limited when it comes to the nitty-gritty. Thank you for bearing with me!!

When your computer boots (starts up) you can access an inner menu that complements your system...this is called your bios (basic input/output system). Most computers you hit the delete key to enter this menu when your computer starts to boot...best bet is to keep hitting the key until you here it beep a few times...depending on the speed of your system at boot you may miss it. It's really an easy menu to learn, just be careful and read the instructions on how to navigate through the menu of the bios (usually given at the bottom of the screen). What O Beachian is saying is, in the bios you'll have a section for onboard sound where it will be enabled, this you'll have to disable it, then exit the menu and save your settings. Hope this helps a little.

Thanks for the advice! Do you think I'll have to modify the motherboard in anyway as well?

Nope, no mods necessary.
