hi there
maybe someone has solution for this mouse problem..

after installing a modem on my comp and going online, i can't enter text info such as user name or password and can't enter text info in any search window such as yahoo, etc, although i can enter info into a url window, i changed the mouse but problem stays....

modem works only on com 3 or com 4 but it does not work (no dial tone) on com 2
mouse is on com 1

appreciate any help on this

I'm thinking that you mite have your mouse on the same port as your modem, it would give you that result. a irq conflic.

right now my mouse is on port 1 the modem is on port 4
different i/os and irq whats strange is that i can insert text in url window but not in username or password windows for email or any search window, it works fine elsewhere..

That is weird. Can you tab into the text box of a search engine? Could you before you changed mice? I have not seen this problem before. Let me know.

What type of mouse is it?

You could try to see if there are updated drivers for your mouse. What type of mouse do you have? Just wondering, how were you able to type your question if you couldn't login? Did you go to a different computer? Does it only happen in your web browser? Try updating your web browser. Hope this helps.

thanks for the response,
i can tab into the text box of a search engine, and everything worked ok before i started playing with the modem install ...
i can type text everywhere else, but not in a search window or in username or password windows...
am using microsoft standard serial mouse 20-A.. have updated the drivers as well no change...
