audioyoda help

hello ive been trying to find out if im doing something wrong or not.when i play a burnt cd of mp3s and i have 5 speakers with 5.1 enabled should i get sound out of all my speakers .or is it the way its recorded when i use the \test your speakers software\it acts strangeduring the music portion i dont get any sound out my left speaker but then later they use a helicopter sound and the left speaker works.i guess what im asking is should all the speakers work all the time.i dont understand this before my back speakers were not working now both left sides are not and my back ones are

im just wondering if the problem lies with my cd rom drive.when i installed i didnt run the wire from the cd rom to the board.could that be part of the problem

It wouldn't hurt to get an analog audio cable and run it from the drive to the header.
