Hi I don't remember if I had asked this question before, so I will ask it anyway.. My father-law and I are trying to Video talk using our wecamera, and Net Meeting ,but are having a hard doing it because it keeps saying can't find name in directory server. What is that and how do I set it up. Orginally I typed in his e-mail address like it said and we have had no luck in being able to see each other. I'm doing this so my wife (his daughter) can see and talk to him , rather than typing all the time. Thanks hope this makes sense.

Go to Yahoo.com create a user acount which is free then download Yahoo instant messanger. If both of you download and install. It will be very simple to see and hear each other via thier instant messanger. I and many others use it and is much easier to configure than netmeeting although you may have to play with the settings a little.

Thanks, but I hear because I use a DSL and he a Cable Mobem it is better using Net Meeting. I would rather use which is easier and if Yahoo is it than I will use it. Thanks

Instead of going through the Netmeeting server, just direct connect to his IP address.

And to do that I would just type in his IP address right? Another question I have, under the Directory settings in Net Meeting I did not choose "Do not list my name in the Directory" but I did check "log on to a directory server when Net Meeting starts". My in-law says he set his up the same way, but when we try to log in to the directory to see if were listed we both receive the message "Can't display page". Does anyone now how we go about correcting this problem or do we have to contact microsoft for something stupid as this.

Don't even bother with the directory server or logging into it. Have him send you an email with his IP address when he wants to connect and just make a call directly to his IP. The directory server is totally worthless unless you like something resembling an AOL chatroom.

Another question we have tried to use net meeting, put hear is the problem were having. When I place a call to him his phone rings and he accepts the call. sometimes net-meeting will tell me he can't accept net-meeting calls and visa versa for him trying to call me. Next if we do connect sometimes we can see each other and other times we can't. I have a check in auto send and receive video in properties, put if you go to tools video the receive is grayed. sometimes it isn't but most of the time it is. Why are we having so much trouble and how to fix it. Also I tried to uninstall ne-meeting but can not find it in add remove.
