Hi Everyone,
Crazy floppy drive, when I boot up, the floppy will whirl needlessly several times, obviously while the floppy whirls the computer sits there waitting for the drive to stop, how can I fix that. SYSTEM CONFIGURATION ------------------------------- M/B Asus P4B533 CPU P4, 2.26G / 533 RAM 256 H/D 1 X 30G Maxtor 1 X 80G Western Digital Thanks Guys For your assistance. |

Disable floppy drive seek in bios, put the hard drive before the floppy in the boot order.

yes as sujested by glc disable "boot up Floppy seek "in Advance BIOS setup and set your harddisk as frist boot device this will fix your problem

Not sure I would make hd the first boot device. If it has a problem you never get to the floppy drive to use your emergency start disk. I did exactly this when I was building a rig a while back. Wound up having to unplug the hd cable to be able to get into it. With floppy set as first boot device it gets checked at bootup, but it's not like what you are describing.

It is still not a problem to set the HD as the first boot drive. If you do have a problem at a later date, you simply go into your BIOS before the OS boots and change the floppy drive back to the first boot device and then you can boot from the floppy.
