hard disk problem

i need help with my harddisk, i have a seagate 10.2 GB hard disk in a AMD 500 processor based system, some time back, while starting the system, i got hard disk failure message. afterwards my harddisk started making crackling noises and was not recognised by the system even in the BIOS. so i took it out and inserted it back in, this time it was recognised by the BIOS and windows started loading but i got windows 98 icon for more than half an hour and afterwards i got the message that hard disk might be corrupt and hard disk couldnt be read, it suggested that my HDD might have developed bad sectors and then the computer stopped responding.
i then started the system from boot diskette, there i got the message that my hard disk was not registering, it did not have a valid FAT partition so i should run f disk. but when i ran f-disk it gave an error that there was no fixed hard disk present, i tried to format it but again got the error that format was not supported on C:

i dont know wether my hard disk is alright or not. but i feel that if it is being recognised by BIOS completely then why it is not being recognised by Boot diskette. i dont know now how to make my hard disk working again as it is not supporting either format or fdisk , PLEASE HELP......

It sounds like your hard drive is failing, you can download diagnostic software from the manufacturer's website or use other software to dianose the drive, but it sounds like it's time to replace the drive.
