MS Intellieye Optical Mouse
I finished upgrading my system from a Iwill KK266/AMD TBird 1.2g to a Asus P4S533/P4 1.8a.
The red light on the back of the mouse stays on all the time even when the pc is shut down. With my old system, the light went off at shutdown. I'm using it as a PS2, not USB. Any way of getting the light to go off at shutdown? Carl |

hey,
I have the same thing wit my mouse, one of my keyboards lights are always on too. And, the NIC light and another led on my motherboard stay on. I am not sure but i thoght it might have been smething with the wake on NIC card- the power still being supplied to the motherboard. |

The green light on the mobo should stay on. As far as the NIC light, I don't know. I have Wake-on LAN disabled. Carl |

Hi Carl, may be this will help.
BTW I use the "power on keyboard" to boot my PC and you can disable it in the bios.

I just went through the BIOS and found that all power on devices are disabled. My keyboard light goes off, just the mouse stays on. I read your link and it looks like the mouse light will stay on because of the system I have. Thanks jimmie, Carl |

Kubie,
I have a couple (3) "samsung cyber beetle" PS2 optical mice at work, running on Intel815ep chipset boards, the front of these mice have a see through plastic cover (various colours) and the lights are always on. All power on devices are disabled. Think it has to do with the design of mouse and remenber that ATX always has power unless powercord is removed. Has never caused any problems and I have had them for about 2 years now. |

I agree with your statement about the ATX power on. My other board was ATX also but the mouse went off when I shut down. Its probably my ignorance about BIOS settings. I really don't know why the BIOS for the same board manufacturer can't use the same wording in the settings menu. Carl |

If you've got any extra ports attached to your peripherals try plugging in the mouse there, instead of in the motherboard.
My optical mouse stayed (sp?) on when plugged direct to the motherboard. But when I switched it to the low power USB port on my keyboard the light goes out when I shut the system down. HT |

If I plug my M$ optical mouse directly to the computer or in a nonpowered hub it the light goes out when I turn my computer off. If I plug it into a powered hub it stays on. Must be that your USB ports still have power when the computer is off.
