Another partition question (logical drives)
Hi!
I'm not sure what to do. I have started to partition my drive, using FDISK. I gave my primary DOS partition 85% of the drive and the extended partition 15% of the drive. Here's where I don't know what to do: I come to a screen that tells me to create Logical Drives. What do I do with that?

Thanks, but I'm still a little confused. What is the logical drive for?

Hi force_flow2002,
A "logical drive" is a partition that gets created within the extended DOS partition. You can have more than 1 "logical drive" within the extended DOS partition. Each "logical drive" is a separate "partition" and gets assigned a drive letter of it's own. The entire primary DOS partition is the c: drive. The extended DOS partition has to be created when you want to break up your hard drive into smaller "drives" or "partitions". The extended DOS partition is like a holder for the "logical drives" or "partitions" that you create. Yes, it's confusing...but it becomes more "logical" once you've done this a few times (sorry about that). Cricket

Force,
So with the 15% create one or as many desired logical partitions. As cricket mentioned that the extended is just a holder but what is really seen is the logical partitions. Edrod13
