Sys Will Not Restart/Reset Pwr Up

I upgrade my HHD and enable the onboard Raid feature on this sys. It was restarting and resetting when needed. Now it will not restart at the command. Sys will shut down but will not restart - get this "black blank screen". Button will not work, I have to power down form the power supply. Tech support to me to load Fail-Safe-Default, and Optimized Defaults, seems as if the system stop responding correctly during this and the RAID features.

Color codes on the case wiring for HDD LED, Reset, Soft Power, etc. all of the wires have one black wire. The color wire have a little diamond on the back. Which go to pin "1" the black wire or the color with the diamond??

Win2K, SVPK 2, AMD 1333, Gigabyte MO GA-7DXR, 430W Power suppy,

Thanks - Henry

The diamond goes to pin 1. Black is ground.

Update

I disconnect everything except the "C" Drive the system still will not reboot with from the reset button or the restart command in Win2K. I shut down and the screen is black, the monitor light change as if there is not connection. I reinstalled Win2k, reformatted the HHD. During the installation it would not reboot when required.

Now I get the "Blue screen" statment that it can not load device drivers.

Anybody have any ideals, could this be a CPU problem? I removed and reinserted the memory one at a time, still same problems.

Thanks - Henry

Hi haptry,

Go to the hard drive manufacturer's website and download the diagnostic utility and test your hard drive.

Make sure the IDE cable is the right type and the drive jumer is set properly for the type of cable used.

Try installing the OS with just one stick of RAM installed.

Can you get more RAM to swap out and test with?

Think I found the problem, the jumpers on the "CPU frequency override" was set wrong. I reset these according to the MOBO spec, and it seems to be working just find.

Thanks - Henry
