If this is the first time you've seen thios error screen, restart your computer. If the screen appears again follow these steps.

Check to be sure you have adequate disc space. If driver is ID in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters.

technical Info:

I keep getting this error message on a blue screen after I boot up and the PC POST.

Heres what I have:
P4S8X MB
256 MB Samsung PC2700 333 MHZ
512 MB Kingston PC2700 333MHZ (works and finsh post w/ just samsun, just kingston and both samsung and kingston)
Intel P4 2.4B 533 MHZ
20 GB IBM HDD 7200 RPM (unformatted from my old PC and still has files, has Windows Program)
40 GB WD HDD 7200 RPM (unformatted from my old PC) and still has files)
Thermaltake 420W PSU

Windows XP Home (upgraded from Win (98se)
Audigy Gamer Sound Card
Ge Force 4 MX 4400 Video Card
Xaser II A5000 tower case

I have assembled everything 1 piece at a time and Like I said after it POST I get the Stop Blue screen error message.

What do I have to do?
Do I need to change anything in the BIOS? (FYI: Bios came preinstalled as version 1003a)

And yes I have Assembled evrything 1 piece at a time, even just assembled MB, memory, processor, video card, floppy and 1 HDD only!

Do i need to format my HDD and reinstall Win 98se then reinstall win xp upgrade?
and if that is what I have to do, how do I do it?

Have you tried just using one stick of memory? It could be that you have a bad memory stick?

Could it be something to do with the fact you havent formatted you hard discs for that machine? i had that problem back in the day, when i UPGRADED to a 333mhz AMD lol

i just had to reformat and it all worked, the blue screen said something similar but it was too long ago to remember

If I am reading yourpost correctly it seems you just pulled your HD's from your old unit to the new one without doing anything with the HD"S. That probally is your promblem read through this thread and try the ENUM trick which should work if not you might have to reinstall the OS"s..

Like I have stated above I have put it togeter w/ just 1 stik of Samsung, then 1 stick of Kingston, then both samsung and kingston....works good until after Posting.

Both Memory stick are good as I have em checked at the store before I left.

And If I need to reformat and/or reinstall the OS, how Do I manage to do that?

I have never formatted or installed a OS from a fresh machine.

and Zaney you are completely correct on that I have grapped my 2 Old HDD from my old PC and put it on my new MB.

I dont think I will be able to do the enum key thing as I already gave away my Old MB.

any one else?

You should be able to boot into safemode if you read through the thread someone post that same question,,

If you still cant find the answer and want to just reinstall:

If you dont have any good info on the the HD"S go into the bios and change the boot sequnce to boot to cd first,,restart with the winxp cd in the cd drive and it will boot up and just follow the prompts for refomating the hd and installing to os it has the prompts for you it is a breeze just follow the prompts andyou will have now promblem,,

Wink

I got my P4S8X running!

P4S8X
Ge Force 4 MX 420
Kingston 512MB 333 MHZ PC2700
20 GB IBM HDD
(I got a 2nd HDD that is 40GB WD HDD that I will need to reformat and reinstall after am done as I will state below)
CDRW
DVD/CDROM
3.5" Floppy
Xaser II A5000 ATX tower Case
thermaltake TT-420APD 420W PSU

I reload my system w/ my WIn 98se startup disk then did Fdisk
I then Formatted my HDD
and then Installed Win 98se.

It all went fine and ran good (I didnt even tweak or change any of the memory options in the BIOS) and I even was able to hook up to the internet. So far everything was working fine....until...

The only problem left I did was I added another of my OLD 40GB WD HDD ( thats 2 HDD now). I guess when I tried to put the 2nd HDD Driver I messed up somewhere cuz wen I tried to install my WIn XP Home Ed. Upgrade, the installation messed up stating that there could be a hardware problem.(I know I messed up on the 2nd HDD installation, it was damn 5am and no sleep when I was doing it)

So I will redo everything again but just w/ my old 20 GB IBM HDD and I wont add the other HDD until after I get the Win XP upgrade installed.

I learned alot on my very 1st setup upgrade here and I think I wouldn have been able too w/o you all!

So Once I get back home from work, heres what I am going to do:

Boot w/ WIN 98se starup disc
load w/o CD support
FDISK
Delete old partition & create new partition
reboot w/ CD Support
reformat HDD
reinstall WIN 98se
add drivers
reinstall ADSL hook up.
make sure all drivers are updated
reinstall WIN XP upgrade

once I get that working I will reformat my 2nd HDD and then install it.

I think that should do it

thank you all again!

I'm gonna close this one because you have a parallel thread going - and I have a comment in it too.
