Athlon XP 1700 vs 1600- any real difference?

Hello,
I have a choice between an Athlon Xp 1700 for $92.00 total, and an Athlon XP 1600 for $55.00 total.
Is there any noticeable difference that could/would warrant the added expense?
The whitepapers on AMD show like a 46mhz clock speed difference. I can't see where the speed would make any difference but the way these things are constructed , who knows? It is also weird to me that Fry's isn't restocking anything below a 1700 and the price difference is so extreme and the specs are so similar?
Thanks.

Edit:
Something hung and I accidently comitted multiple posting error..
Sorry.

Hi Needtoknow,
I'd probably go for the 1600. You won't really notice that much difference in the speed really. These things are so fast anymore that a small difference like that is pretty much undetectable. I heard a rule one time that you won't really notice much of a difference in speed until the speed doubles. So, for instance, if you had a 1GHz cpu, don't upgrade until the 2GHz is available. Don't know how true this rule is, just something I heard once. hth

Save your money, get the best deal. For the most part will never notice the difference.

The only difference between the 2 would be noticed by benchmarks only and that difference isn't worth bragging about.
The 1600 is overclock friendly,so if you wanted you could tweak it to match the 1700 easily.

Hello,
Thanks all, I have been searching for info , and have seen the overclock friendly part all over the place.
Sounds like there is no reason to pay additional $30.00
Thanks again.
