Angry New PC Freezes! No POST. Black Sreen.

Bought all parts to build a new PC.

P4 2.0Ghz
ASUS P4B533-V
IBM Destskat 40Gb
1 DIMM 512Mb PC2700
CDRW
Video Card GeForce4 MX440
PSU 300W

When i turn it on the LED on the MoBo lights up, the HDD spind, the CDRW light up, the CPU and case fan spin. But it doesn't even get to the POST.
It just freezes.

I changed the monitor - Nothing
I changed the Video card (used the one on board) - Nothing
I turned IDE cables around - Nothing
I removed HDD, FD, CDRW - Nothing
I removed all Perif - Nothing
I removed the DIMM ... I get a messege for 'No System Memory Error' but still no visual.

Can someone help me.

Thanks.
Davide

Try POSTing with just the video card and RAM *TIGHTLY* snapped in (no drives). Do you get any beep codes? If not try POSTing without the RAM. Any beep codes?

What brand of PSU are we talking about here?

If the above failed, consider the motherboard shorting on the case. ASUS is a reputable MB.

ZANEY123,

thaks for shareing taht link. Helpful.

I tried everything on there and got nothing.

O Beachian... I tried POSTing in all different ways but no luck.
Without the RAM I receive a System Memory failllure error messege.

I don't know the PSUs Brand.
I also took the mobo out and tried it that way to make sure it wasn't shorting but had no luck.

I tried the RAM on another PC and it works.
I couldn't find another PC where I could test the CPU.. the only ones I have available ( at work) are DELLs and I can't remove the CPU on those... I'm never buying a DELL.

Ca you read my frustration ?
Any other suggestions are welcome.

Hi dpicone,

What brand is the PC2700?

Did you try PC2100 DDR in that motherboard?

You should try to find out what brand that power supply is...some brands are pretty low quality and can cause strange problems.

Did you hook up all the power connectors necessary for that particular motherboard (either the square 4 pin power connector, the 4 pin molex connector or both)?

I used a multimeter to see if I'm getting enough juice for it. But I must of done it wrong and it shut down the mobo. I does come back on though. Thank God.
Now I winped out and I'm afraid of doing it anymore.

Yes I did connected the 20 Pin power connector and the 4 pin 12v CPU power supply connector. I even tried tacking the second one out and putting the 4pin ATX but same results.

The RAMM brand is AIB the name of the company I bought it from.
