Unhappy Problem installing new video card, help please

Hi all, hoping someone could help me as I am getting a little frustrated.

It so happens I just purchase a new video card from newegg.com, the MSI Gefroce 4 TI4200, I am upgrading from a Geforce 2 64m sport.

Now what I did was take out my old video card and put in the new as directed.

The disc was in but everytime i hit ok it was saying no disc, thats fine as they said I might have to do it manualy so I went to Control panel and ran disc and got the setup menu.

I click download new drivers, stops around 80%, I do a Ctrl+alt+delete and said program not responding.

After i hit end task I get please restart PC yadda yadda, so I did.

When I restarted nothing came up, it stops at the blue screen, you know the one that has the sky and windows 98 logo, it just will not boot up properly.

Now I take out the card and put back in my orignal Geforce 2 and it works again after doing a safe mode+restart.

I tried to load Geforce 4 again but the same thing, goes thru the bios very fast as usual then just freezes at the window 98 logo, it wont go back to desktop to give me the chance to load drivers again.

Did this like 5 times and same thing, it just will not work.

I was about to uninstall my old card but didnt want to take a chance worried I might just make things worse, also not sure where setup disc is for Gefrce 2, my orignal card.

So now iam stuck, not sure why this is not working and really hoping someone could help me here as I really like to experience my new video card.

MY specs are as follows.

MSI KT266 AMD
512 MB
1.33 Tbird
2X40 HDD
Santa cruz turtle beach card
MSI Geforce 2 64m pro(until upgrade hopefully)

hmm anything else?

I really hope someone can help me, I am going to bed now and will hope their are some replies tomorrow to help with this situation.

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Try Mike Breck's instructions about installing new video drivers for you new card.
Judging by your post you didn't remove the old programs.
