usb controller driver

ok i have a d850mv intel mb,it supports ubs 2.0 but driver was not on disk,a 2nd disk labeled USB 2.0 drivers for windows xp came with it.it dont work, which is ok cause glc said i didn't need 2.0.
PROBLEM i can uninstall it in device mgr(where it shows up with yellow?) but every time i restart my computer it tries to install it and it shows up again in device mgr. how can i get this to stop happening?

Wait a minute - what is the EXACT model of Intel board? The D850MV doesn't support USB 2.0, just the D850EMV2.........

this came with the board--update d850md and d850mv product guide and quick reference for d850mvse -(the box only says d850mv but the info and invoice say d850mvse.) anyway the information explaines about the supplimental cd(which they sent)to install USB2.0 IT also says the USB controller in hardware mgr.would show a yellow? so i assumed that the board supported 2.0 since it all matched.it just dont work and i cant get it to quit trying to install at every restart.

OK - the D850MVSE supports USB 2.0, and the Intel site says that you need to install the driver for WinXP that came on the second CD. I don't know what to say with Win2K other than get the passworded drivers from Microsoft. If you just leave it flagged, does it still try to do something on every restart? If so, can you right click on it and disable it?

no i can leave it flagged and disabled and it doesn't try to install at every start up . if i uninstall it then it installs it every time. it just bothers me to see the yellow ? i'll try to find the password,it seems strange that you can get all the other drivers from microsoft without a password, even the same one for xp,but you have to have one for w2k. thanks for the response i learn a lot everytime something llike this occurs even if i cant fix it.
