How convenient and reliable is the telephone answering capability of USR2976 Voice Modem and Sound Blaster Live Value soundcardz?(System running:Asus CUV4X and Win98SE)I have a telephone service thru my local telephone company and pay $8 a month. I like it and is reliable, but if I am online I have to wait till I get offline to check for my messages.
If I can set this up and will be as good as my local telephone company's answering service I will save $8 and will be able to know how's calling if I'm online, maybe even answer the call at the same time. The big question now> How do I do it?(I bought this components OEM so I have no manuals, websites don't have them either. Thanks. |

You can't do this without a "call waiting" modem. You can look into possibly subscribing to one of the "Internet call waiting" services, but by the time you pay them and pay the phone company for "forward call busy" service, you won't be saving anything.
I do not have voice mail, but I do have standard call forwarding. I forward my phone to my cell phone when I go online, and it has caller ID and voice mail as part of the package. |

In that case I don't see the use of using this capability unless there is another practical purpose for me to use the voice connector. Thanks Glc.
