CPU upgrade iwill kk266+r Board

I have a IWILL KK266Plus R MB with a 1.1 Athlon T-bird CPU. I want to upgrade to a 2000 or 2100 XP CPU but cannot find if the board will support them. Their website simply says to 1900+. The BIOS is V6.00PG. The bios upgrade only mentions the repair of a Windows 2000 problem. Can I upgrade to the faster CPU and if so would I have to ugrade the bios?

System

Iwill KK266Plus R MB
1.1 Athlon T-Bird
40g Seagate HHD
340W PS
Gforce 3 64 mb graphics
512 mb sdram memory
48x12x48 Liteon cd burner
ati Sound blaster sound card

Hi hoffmanron,

To really get the most benefit from a 2000+ or 2100+ Athlon XP you should pair it up with a motherboard that supports DDR RAM. SDRAM will really cripple the performance of the XP.

Cricket has a very good point! I had an Iwill KK266+ non raid board with a 1.4 T-bird, 1gig of PC133 and I upgraded it to an Asus A7V333 which supports the Athlons and XP cpu’s with 256 Mb of DDR and it runs almost twice as fast as it did before using the same old T-bird. I plan to upgrade to an XP CPU down the road.

Does it affect it enough to justify staying with the 1.1 T-Bird? I really do not want to change the board right now because of having to make a clean install of the OS and reinstall all of my software and drivers. I am self-employed and it usually takes two days to do all. Plus I have had no trouble with this board.
