hello i need some help with irqs i think. i just bought a diamond supraexpress isa modem today and when i run the modem diagnostics it just says modem failed to respond. i only have irq 9 left over but diamnond says it will not run on irq 9. how can i force something else to run on 9 so that the modem will have a suitable irq? everything i try to change in device manager says resources cannot be changed. here is a list of my irqs. thanx

Go into the PCI/Plug and Play section of your BIOS and choose assign resources manually. Reserve IRQ 3 for Legacy ISA. Then reinstall the modem and it should set itself up on Com 2 IRQ 3. The Linksys will find another IRQ.

it worked !

thank you very much glc: i made the change in the bios and didnt even have to reinstall the modem. the linksys net card went to irq 4 and the soundblaster live card went to irq 9. modem runs great now with no irq conflicts, now i can go set up voicemail and caller id. thanx again long live pc mechanic!
