Looks to me like it's overvoltage that kills them, welcome to the hazards of overclocking.

ya... I've seen issues with this before, but it doesn't appear to be a problem until you start pushing the voltage up. It used to be that you could push 10% over the factory voltage without issues, but it seems that with the Northwood, if you really want to be safe, drop that figure down to about 5%... anything more is almost asking for it.

What if the only thing I do is rasing the FSB from 400 to 533?

You'd be hard pressed to get that much of a boost in fsb without upping the voltage. But then again I sense some sarcasm from the last post. Never have been good at deciphering online sarcasm.

Nope, there was no sarcasm in my post, sorry if you took it that way. Just remember that english is not my primary language and sometimes I don't write it very well.

I'll be ocing my P4 when I get it. I've never oced before and I am a complete noobster in the matter. I know it's a stupid question but I really don't know.

The sudden death syndrome doesn't seem to be a direct effect of raising the FSB, but rather just the voltage.
