To 4-in1 or not to 4-in-1
I got my spare-parts build up and running:
XP 1600+ Iwill KK266/VIA KT133A Chipset WD 20GB HDD BTC CD-ROM GeForce3 512 PC-133 SDRAM Windows XP Home And when I booted up to install the drivers off the mainboard CD, I did auto install. I guess the drivers on the CD are older then the ones that exist in XP, and I think I replaced them. I removed the Via Ultra ATA Controller in Device Manager, and now when I boot, the system freezes when detecting a new IDE controller. Sorry if I did a poor job of explaining, I don't remember half of what I did. I'm gonna re-install Windows, my question: should I bother with the drivers on the CD, or just leave everything? Thanks...... |

Just use the ones that come with WinXP. When I did a build, I didn't even take the mobo CD out of it's package.

So, the XP drivers are just installed when I install XP? Or do I have to load them manually? Thanks..........

Nope, WinXP installs them automatically.

Thanks a lot, I'll re-install later and see if that fixes it. Thanks again!

Pretty sweet backup computer! Wish I had one so my friends wouldn't hog my UT2003. Their computers are dogs.

Hahaha, I think I'm going to sell the recent build, though. I wish I could keep it, but I owe my Mom for some of the parts.
