CRASH No Video

I sent my Cousin a computer that I had built for him through FedEx. It was working fine when I sent it. When he got it, he stated that the video card and the modem card had come out of thier slots, and that the Mobo had come loose from the case. I had him replace the mobo in the case and start it up, the fans all started, but there was no video and no beebs from the speaker. He then said that there looked to be (2) chips that had broken off of the Video card, so I had him put in the video card from his other computer, still, no video, he then said that he noticed that the power connector from the floppy drive was disconnected, he accedentally tried to plug it in and shorted the power supply. So I am having him ship it back to me so I can see for myself. What should I expect the problem to be? Could of it been from the floppy not having power to it that caused the non beeps and no video? I dont think the Mobo was damaged, however not sure. I am planning on ordering a new video card and PSU, should I wait on the Video card and use my own or what?

It sounds like it was seriously damaged in shipping, and the motherboard was probably damaged. It did come loose from the case, and that sounds like it got some serious jostling. Was it fully screwed in?

Hopefully it was insured shipping, because I suspect that you will have to replace at minimum the vid card, and quite probably the mobo as well.

when u re send it, make sure the pc can not move in the box. I dont mean some paper and cat litter. I mean foarm thats the form of the pc or some crap.

If the pc is moved around a lot the card will come lose...

you should have shiped with insurance and claimed it.

I've seen this too often - folks, if you ever want to ship a computer, spend the extra $$$ to get it professionally packed and shipped at Mailboxes, Etc. and make sure you insure it for full replacement value!
