CPU fan suggestions
Hey guys,
I think I have finallized my system specs and I am going to be running an Athlon XP 2100+, the OEM version without the fan. I was wondering what is a relatively powerful fan, but is also kind of quiet. I was looking at Thermaltake, Taisol, Coolermaster, etc, and I don't really know which one to pick. Thanks, Dave |

Hi dackerman,
Look for heatsinks that use a 80mm fan instead of a 60mm fan. The 80mm fan move more air at slower speeds to help keep the noise level down. The Thermalright SK-7 or SLK-800 with a Panaflo L1A fan would be a good choice. Cricket

Hi dackerman,
I always use "stock' fans. The work fine, and they are also very quite. CoolerMaster has some nice units and are one of my favorites. Regardless of brand, if you want quite, look for a HS that uses an 80mm fan. This way you can get a fan that blows close to double the needed CFM for a 2100+ at only 3000RPM. If you get a 60mm unit, the fan will have to run at 5000RPM or higher, and still won't have the CFM of the 80mm. HTH TwoRails |
