Finalized Christmas Build
Hey people.
This is my finalized build for my christmas. I posted the original a while back and got some good feedback. I hope i get the same again. Mercury KOB115 Case with a Mercury 300W ATX PSU. Jetway 830CH /DIMM (SD)/ATA100/Socket A/3PCI/1AGP 4x/1 CNR/ 2 USB 2.0/Onboard graphics and sound. AMD Athlon XP 2000+ OEM 266FSB (rated at 1.733Ghz) Twinmos PC133 256MB SDRAM Seagate ST320014A 20GB ATA 100 Hard Drive. Phillips Floppy Drive. No Optical drives as yet. A couple of questions. 1. What do you think would be a good optical drive to get for this machine. 2. What Operating System do you recommend for this specification. If you have any comments about this please don't hesistate to put them down. Thanks all for reading and, what every holiday of religious festival you are haveing at this time of year whether it be Christmas, Hannukah or other, have a good one! ![]() Cheers AD

I like the LiteOn cd burners if that answers your question. Also, I would go with either WIN2K or XP for the OS; either will work fine for you.

Andrew - I question the wisdom of putting an Athlon XP on a SDRAM board, and I also question the quality of a Jetway motherboard, they are in the PC Chips family. A better budget build would be an Asus A7N266-VM and some DDR ram. You also need to research the quality of a "Mercury" power supply.

I'm with glc, the A7N266-VM would be an excellent choice for your system if you need onboard video/sound. SDRAM will cripple your system, and DDR is not that much more expensive. Get a different PSU, Antec, Enermax, Sparkle make excellent units. The Antec SLK2600AMB is a budget case that includes an Antec 300W PSU.
