good overclock for ti 4200?
Hey, I was wondering what a good overclock for a ti 4200 was. Mine is an Abit and the software that came with it only works for windows ME (what were they thinking) so I d/led RivaTuner. I have it overclocked to 300.4/621 right now. I can get the ram to 650 but anything over 621 gives me little messups in the video and eventually the card resets itself to the lowest values. I am guessing thats a good overclock since its close to a 4600 (just need 30 mghz more for ram). Before overclock I got 10882 and after I got 12274 which is about 1400 mark increase. I got more before dx9(got 11,600 in 8.1 w/o overclock), I don't know why it gives me lower scores than dx8.1 did.
I am going to order a slot fan as soon as they come back into stock on newegg and then also an aftermarket hsf w/ heat sinks for ram. Basically I just need the ram sinks because they seem to be the hottest thing. Whats a good thing to buy as far as that goes. (link from newegg..) Also when I was looking at them and my card, they have 4 ram sinks (2 for top and 2 for bottom), but on my card I see two next to each other to the bottom of the top and 2 to the right. Do the sinks spread across two at a time? If they do then 4 is fine but if not, I'd need 8... Anyway what have you guys overclocked you cards to? |

ok thanks. what does hth stand for?
edit: thanks for the link, i went there and some have 8 for the ram and some have 4 where it is really long and covers two at a time. My main concern is that my ram is really close to the agp slot. I moved the ram to the 3rd slot so its out of the way but it would be really really close if i put ram sinks on. Is there a way to pull of the side clips for ram on a mobo? I would need to take off 1, possibly two if the sink started touching the clips. there is space and it would hopefully fit, i was just wondering if in a worst case scenario, i could take the two closest clips for the system ram off. I have 3 ram slots and only one is occupied so I don't need those slots (besides possible future upgrade). edit again: how would the ram sinks stay on. would the thermal paste/tape just be sticky enough to hold it? I know it comes with tape which would hold it but do you think AS3 would be sticky enough to? don't you just love my edits?: is there software to read the temp of the gpu? (and ram if possible) Last edited by Ryan2318; 12-23-2002 at 11:33 PM. |

does your gainward have ramsinks already installed? My Abit has the ram out in the open... I just upped my gpu to 320 and its fine at that, but I really need to get the ram sinks on site floppyman showed me because the ram burn my finger to the touch.

Hi Ryan,
Just to let you know, HTH stands for "Hope this/that helps". I've ordered from sidewinder a couple times before and have always been satisfied with their products and service. |
