Speakers acting weird

I have Creative 5.1 5200 speakers running with a Soundblaster Live! 5.1. After hooking them up back on Christmas I was getting center channel output in games (specifically Warcraft III and Battlefiled 1942). But now....nothing. I tried testing the speakers through Creative Diagnostics, but "Playback of wave file failed" is displayed when testing the speakers as 5.1 and 4 speakers. However, the test runs when 2 speakers is selected. Any thoughts on why this is suddenly happening? I have the current sound card drivers and the connections have been triple checked. Thanks a lot.

Well I don't know much about the Live! but I do have an Audigy and I also have those same speakers. The software that came with my card enables me to have differenct settings for listening to music, playing games, or watching movies, and each of these settings uses the speakers in differenct ways. On the default setting, only the front two speakers work (not the center), but when playing games, I enable the surround sound and all the speakers work. Maybe that could be your problem. HTH

Do you enable surround sound in the game or through the software? I have it enabled in the games I play, and as I said the center channel use to make sound, but now it doesn't. What software does the Audigy use that you're making adjustments in?

The software that comes with it include the Creative Taskbar, and I am fiddling with the Surround Mixer. But now that you brought this to my attention, I am experiencing the same problem, although I never noticed it before. When I test the speakers, nothing is coming out of the center one.

Mine fail the 5.1 and 4 speaker test but pass the 2 speaker test. Are these things shot or are we doing something wrong? I emailed Creative but they haven't gotten back to me yet.
