Floppy Disks Get Stuck; New OS or Floppy No Go

Here we go again. I just got a used mac 6300 and the floppy drive gets stuck every time I eject. I disabled the extensions and even changed the operating system but it still gets stuck on the way out. So then I simply changed to another floppy drive and thought that's that but low and behold this one too gets stuck on the eject. It appears as though the drive is just riding too high inside and that it is not getting low enough to eject properly. But the hard drive below it seems to be in the proper position so I don't know what it could be. Maybe I should remove the little trays that the drives are independently resting on in order to lower their height then brace them in with pencils. Has anyone ever heard of this problem of not getting the proper fit and then disks getting stuck on eject?

Where is it getting stuck? Is the disk hitting a slot in the front of the case? Your software won't affect this as it is a purely hardware problem from what you are describing. I am not familiar with macs but it sounds like your drive and the slot don't match up very good.

catfishjoe_1 is correct. The floppy is getting stuck because of either the floppy disk itself or because of the floppy drive. This cannot be a software problem.

On drives I have used that were new I needed to push the button all the way in, fairly hard/firmly, the first few times until the drive eject got "broke in". Sometimes they are a little bit "stiff" when new. HTH

This may sound foolish, but sometimes if I have been carrying around a floppy the metal slide cover gets slightly bent, and that slight bend causes it to get stuck in the floppy drive. Is the floppy drive reading the disk before it ejects?

I unscrewed the floppy drive from the carrier tray and then put a pencil on each side to better position it and now it seems to work. So it definitely is a mechanical positioning problem.
