I have a Epox 8K7A that has a chipset fan on the AMD 761 chipset. It spins ok but makes alot of noise so the bushing/bearing must be worn out.
When I look at this thing, I wonder if that little fan and hs does any real good. The Vantec 6027D cpu cooler blows alot of air across the chip anyway. Do I really need to replace the chipset fan? TIA Carl |

Hi Kubie,
You don't need a fan, but you do need a heatsink on it. I would suggest replacing the stock one with a Zalman ZM-NB32 which will keep it nice and cool but with no noise. Hope that helps. Last edited by DrZaius; 01-04-2003 at 06:26 PM. |

Hi Kubie,
I have the same board, after about 8 months of having it the same thing happened to me, i went to a local computer shop and bought a replacement for $4.50, that is what i suggest. |

Hi southrk,
I might have to do that. Can't find a place online that has one at a decent price. I like the idea of just the heatsink. Trying to cut back some noise. Carl |
