ram question
I was trying to upgrade my Gateway 300s pc's RAM. I have some extra pc100 128MB Ram so I was trying to find out if that would work or did I need pc133 RAM. When I looked up the product specifications at Gateway.com it lists the RAM that is in there as 128-MB 133/100/66-mhz 72-Bit 4-clock 16*8 sdram dimm. My question is which kind of RAM should I get for this pc. The serial number for the pc is 0025186888. I would appreciate any help.

Hi josh,
Welcome to PC Mech. If you want to be sure you get the correct RAM for that Gateway, go to Crucial.com and use their RAM configurator. It will give you a list of the exact type of RAM to use. And Crucial has free shipping. Cricket

Hi josh and welcome to the PC Mech forums!
![]() There is an easy way to know: put that extra ram in the machine and start it. If it recognizes and starts ok you should have no problems. Of course I'm thinking you have the ram in your possesion. If you don't and are planning on buying it, go to the Crucial web site, I've heard they have an option to find the stick of ram that matches your PC. www.crucial.com

According to Crucial site your computer could have PC133 or it could have DDR RAM in it. I haven't seen a factory system with a Celeron and DDR in it so I am going to assume it uses SDRAM memory. But you want to open it up and look to be sure.
