What's a good cheap seriel external modem? I need one for my backup computer and don't want to spend a lot. Which cheap ones should I stay away from? Pricewatch has some Bocas for around $31 or so. Are they any good? I have a Diamond Supra Express external seriel on my main computer and love it. Just too $$$$ for a second one. I am flush due to building my "dream computer" and would like to get a second modem cheap. External only...I wouln't go any other way having used both. Just don't want to buy one that won't work or is hard to set up. Thanks.

Those Bocas are both USB and winmodems - stay away. I just looked on Pricewatch and the cheapest external serial that I would trust is $52 - the generic Rockwell.
Why don't you look around for an internal ISA Supra Express? I've seen OEM versions as low as $25. Check the Steals and Deals section at the S3 online store. |
