camera question

I have a problem with my Fuji finepix 1400 camera and WinXP. When I was using this camera with my old PC and I wanted to upload pictures fromthe camera to the pc all I had to do was connect it to the USB cable and windows would automatically upload all the pictures. With my new Pc and camera I'm having a problem. When I connect the camera windows found it no problem, but when I connect it it won't up load any pictures. I wen to Start>control panel and Scanners and Cameras and my camera doesn't show up. If you co to my computer it is shown as a removabe driveG. How do I change this so windows will show it under Scanners and Cameras so when I connect it again windows will automatically upload the pictures again. Thanks DD

Just go into drive G and copy/paste the files onto the hard drive. Best thing in the long run is get a card reader if it has removable memory.

Hi doubledragon5,

I sounds like you had special software loaded on your old machine that would do the download automatically. I'm with glc, and either just cut-n-paste (which I do) and / or get a dedicated card reader (which I have).

1) The special software running in the background is just one more thing eating resources and slowing the system down.

2) it is standard for cameras and the like to be recognized as a removable drive, as that's what they are.

3) even with a card reader, it is still found as a removable drive, but at least you're not wearing out your camera when you don't need to.

I got my 6-n-1 card reader from www.newegg.com for $31, which was 1/2 the price I could find for anything local.

HTH

Hi. I have a fuji finepix 2400. When I hook it up I get a window with choices of copying pics, view as slideshow, print pics, etc. I can also get that window by right clicking on the removable drive in explorer & then clicking autoplay. I've used it on both XP Home & Pro.

Hope it works for you...

Plug your camera in the usb port then open my computer and you should see a camera below the cd-rom.
