Repairing a Canon S30 Digital Camera
Ive got a canon S30 digital camera which has a slight dint on the back corner.
It was in a backpack, and the person slipped, and fell backwards, slightly crushing the camera. The camera still works, except the buttons that are on the back corner dont work anymore, because the body is deformed and they cant be pressed right. Which makes it annoying, because those are the delete button, and others. Since it was our fault, the warranty doesnt cover it, and the only option is to send it away to canon to have it repaired at like $90/hour, plus parts. Anyone know where i can buy replacement body parts for the camera? If i could get the parts, i might be able to do it myself, if the parts didnt cost too much. Any ideas?

I think I would call Canon directly or talk to whoever warranties their cameras. Barring that it might be time to talk to the company that carries your homeowners insurance. I know mine will cover accidents such as the one you had.

Why should home owner's insurance insure your mistakes like slipping over? Essentially, what does a digital camera have to do with your home? I'm just curious. |

(well im not actually old enough either, but my parents bought the camera, so they have the insurance)
it just has something to do with home insurance covering general expensive things, and i guess from acidents too, even though we may be at fault. (just guessing) |

Well, i opened the camera up, and managed to bend the body back into shape enough, so that it wasnt squishing one of the buttons on, and now it works fine.
The problem was that one button was being pressed on, and while it was, the camera wouldnt recognise any other buttons being pressed. So it works now, just has a slight dent in it. |

I suppose it depends upon the coverage you buy Fuze. I pay to have everything I own covered no matters where it actually is when it is damaged or stolen or whatever. It will cover anyone that lives under my roof's possessions. It's not a rip to the insurance company they know what they are covering and about what the odds of sustaining a loss are.
