installing p-4 celeron heatsink

Hello, I just installed my P-4 celeron processor and heatsink and fan on my new asus p4pe motherboard. Is it "normal" for the retention mechanism that hold the heatsink to the processor to be under quite a bit of spring tention? I know it has to hold the heatsink close to the procsessor. You can see the main board "bend" a little after I installed the heatsink.
Is this normal?

Please advise,

thanks,

God Bless,

Robert

Yes, that's normal. If you installed the heatsink with the motherboard out of the case (the recommended method), then the motherboard will warp quite a bit...but once you mount the motherboard into the case, it'll straighten out some. Don't worry, everything's fine.

Wouldnt that be a horrible sound?...Just sitting their installing the heatstink and you hear this awful crack! and it just echoes in your mind over and over again..and then you begin to feel your calm composure giving way to an immeasurable amount of rage that leads too an all out beat down fest on the nearest solid object...

Was that a little too dramatic? I think so

You can't crack the core on a P4 or a FC-PGA2 P3/Celeron because it's got that big aluminum heat spreader on top of it, it's not a naked core like the Athlons and the FC-PGA P3/Celerons.
