Mic and Speaker Problems...
Here is my motherboard:
ASUS P4PE Motherboard for Intel P4 478 Retail w/ Intel Hyper-Threading Technology, SATA, Gigabit LAN, Firewire IEEE1394 ***1st Intel chip that TRUELY supports DDR333 PC2700*** Link: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...ion=13-131-427 I try to plug in a mic but I can't get anything to come out...I have tried different mics but still nothing...I originally bought one with headphones and mic but can't even get that to work...Anything I'm missing out on here?? Also, I have a 6 speaker system too that doesn't seem to be working right...1 bass, 4 sat's, and a center speaker...Everything but the two background sat's work...The headphones work fine also...Any suggestions?? I was thinking it has something to do with the motherboards SoundMax that I'm just not doing right...Thx for the help... |

AFAIK the new mobos that support multichannel sound use the In or the Mic jack to plug the rear speakers. So, you either have mic or speaker but not both at a time.
Check your manual and see what it sez.

not sure about the speaker setup, but the mic problem may just be simple settings in the sound properties.
to test it go into sound and audio properties in the control panel go to the voice tab, voice recording, click the options then properties. choose playback rather than recording and scroll down the volume control options and make sure mic is checked. then make sure it is off mute. i don't think these are the settings you'ld want to record or for gaming but at least you will know your mic works |

I dont have the mic muted and the volume is turned up on it...I tried recording and playback on Roger Wilco which is used for online gaming...I tried the voice transmit and the manual button transmit key and still nothing...

well, after messing with my own for a sec, seems you can just go into the sound properties, then voice, then where it saya voice playback, click volume then turn the mic volume up. if mic volume doesn't appear, you can go into properties and choose mic in the scroll bar.
p.s. i use XP |

I put boost on and off, still no go...Also, the gaming thing I'm using first records for 10 seconds to adjust the mic recording level then playsback what it recorded...When it plays back, all I here is a first click then nothing...

well, after the properties all i could think to check would be that it's plugged into the right jack and you don't have the microphone itself turned off.
not trying to treat you like ..... but i've spent so much time pulling my hair out only to realize something wasn't plugged in right or whatnot. |

Plugged in the mic jack and there is only one switch on the headphones and I tried it both ways...I guess I'm screwed...
