Question Sony DRU500A video?

I just bought this writer this weekend and I've been having problems with the dvd-rom part reading the video. I get a few green lines every once in a while, along with some distorted pixels. I have tried sony, but no reply. I've updated my video drivers, made sure the dma was on,uninstalled and reinstalled the software that came with it, and even tried other software. I get the same thing. The writing part works great with all media. Any help would be appreciated.

Well I think I narrowed it down. I ran a drive check off of the sony website and these were the results.

Media Test: Failed
Write Test: Passed
Read Test: Passed

I bought this drive from Compusa, and I hope I can take it back.
It's only been 3 days.

Try different media, some drives are very sensitive to brand and quality.

I have already tried a few different types of media including what came with the drive. Power DVD, WinDVD, Interactual player and
Windows Media, all with the same results. I took it back to CompUSA this morning and of course they were out of them for the exchange. They ordered me another one from another store.
I do appreciate your suggestions glc.
