Want an ultra-quiet, ultra-cool running PC?

Yep, those all-VIA systems are good if you need a super quiet web and email system. Performance is still horribly slow though with the C3 processor last I checked though.

Haha...I finally read the article and saw the processor is only a 1GHz VIA C3 CPU...that's like what, a 500MHz PIII in terms of actual speed? Heck, it might be even slower than that, although I've never really seen one up close yet.

Yeah, I don't think anyone would be interested in a C3 system for gaming or heavy computing...but for late night web browsing, it's probably pretty good.

I haven't seen a 1ghz on but I have seen a couple of 800mhz C3's. It may not have been the CPU's fault but they ran about like a 500 Celeron that was loaded pretty heavily. They seemed to work just fine but they were slow. They also had integrated everything so they weren't getting much help from any other components.

Reminds me of the old Cyrix MediaGX that Compaq used in their first under-$1000 Presarios a few years back - a real slow toad, but it did work. The video and VRAM was integrated into the processor and it used a forerunner to an AMR modem - sound was onboard.
