Hitachi HD
After I bought a IBM Deskstar I read on this forum that their quality had gone down - well I found out first hand. Less than a year later it went south. Today I recieved my replacement drive and it is a Hatachi. I was wondering if anybody has any experience with them? Will I be waiting for it to go south too?

IBM sold it's hard drive division to Hitachi last year. How good are the Hitachi hard drives? I have no hands on experience with them, so I wouldn't know. And I don't know anyone who's even used a Hitachi hard drive. Maybe it'll perform well for a long time...and maybe not.

Hitachi... ahh, good luck, because they were the reason IBM hard drives stopped being good HDs. They are made by the lowest bidder.

They make decent notebook drives. If you got a Hitachi drive you got a different drive than the deskstars that had all the trouble.
I don't know how good their new drives are but you can look at it one way, It's got to better than what you had! Good Luck with it. |
