(!) com port 2 ??

I do'nt know if this is in the right forum, if not i appologise.

I have just purchased a data cable + software for my nokia , i connected it to my spare 9 pin serial port but the software would'nt recognise it.
i went to devise manager and it says...

communication port 1 : micromodem
(!) communication port 2
Printer port.

how can i fix communication port 2 so that my software will accept it?
As you can tell by explaination of the problem i am not very computer literate.
I did'nt know what i was doing but i tried to move the hsp56 micromodem that it says i am using to a different port but then my aol connection could not find a modem
if it makes any difference my computer is an old..
time computers 501mhz amd k6-3d processor, and i am running windows xp pro (without any problems until now).

Hope someone can help as this is driving me crazy :-(

Janice.

Welcome to PCMech, wesleypipes1969!

Try going into your device manager and remove COM2 and reboot. That may help clear up the problem.

Does "COM2" still have an excalimation mark in front of it?

Have you entered in all of your info to connect to your ISP?

What COM port does your system say the modem is on? Whatever it is, you may need to change it in your modem settings.
