upgrading processor?

i have a LS kt133 MB with an AMD T. B. 800MHZ. when i bought it they said i could go up to 1.2 MHZ. do i have to stay with T.B. or can i use Duron.i found a cheap 1.2 T B for $49 an a 1.1 Duron for $35. i've read that you should double processor speed to see a diference.Next year i'll be letting my kids use this mechine a i'll build a newer an nicer 1.

30 GB UDMA66 IDE HDD

You most likely can use the Duron, but a BIOS flash *may* be required.

A BIOS Flash is when the EEPROM chip on your mainboard that holds the BIOS code is re-programmed. You usually do this when the mainboard manufacturer releases a BIOS flash with code that corrects a specific problem that you are having, but it is sometimes necessary in order for the system to recognize a processor string that is not supported in the original BIOS code.

Edit: disregard the comment about the Athlon XP, I think the KT133 only supports a 200MHz DDR FSB.
