Question PC100 Memory upgrades

I have been having trouble upgrading my PC100 motherboard.I am installing PC100 chips, initially it just beeped.Having followed
some suggestions it has now stopped beeping but now on memory test on boot up it just reads 120 mb not 256 mb as now
installed.Can anybody help ? I am using award BIOS.

What are you doing exactly...(ie.you had 128M of PC100 and are trying to add another strip of 128M PC100) If this is the case the 2 modules may be incompatable, other thing is to go into the BIOS and there are settings available for the memory, usually it's something like advanced chipset features or something like that. The settings may need tweaked a bit to accomadate the new memory.. Post back with specifically what you are doing though,,specifically how much mem was there and what are you adding to it..and are you adding to existing memory or putting in 1 whole new strip...

What mobo are you using ?

Not all PC100 memory is compatible with all boards.

You can find out alot from Crucial's configurator about what kind of RAM you will need. It sounds like to me the RAM may not be compatible.
